If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying "poop deck"?
I'd be the captain of the ship and make someone else say it. Who thought up these questions? I've discovered this phrase is used quite a bit in C.S. Lewis' book The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which is one of the books in the Chronicles of Narnia.
