| Introduction | BowBIRDIE – aka Julie Kiefel – tinkers about in the medium of repurposed jewellery (and depending on the scale of found-object assemblage, an occasional lamp or chandelier). Over the years, award-winning works have been exhibited inter/nationally in various group/touring shows. Her ‘studio’ is technically any free work surface in her family home ~ amongst the forested foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. In 2002, she commenced an M.F.A. at RMIT, Melbourne & let’s face it, will probably never finish! bowBIRDIE considers pretty much anything fair game to create with – so long as it’s a ready-made un/natural discard; intricate, dark or red or teal, or shiny, reflective & shimmering.. To crop, layer, stack & somehow affix seamlessly together. Her favourite hashtags are #usewhatyouhave & #sustainablefashion, in case you were wondering.. Stockists include: Reverse Emporium QLD or direct via bowbirdie.etsy.com |
