|Location||São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil|
|Introduction||Richard Pedicini earned his degree in philosophy from Yale. In New York's financial district he wrote the MIS system of Shearson/Lehman Brothers, both those firms relying on his programs for over a decade. He also calculated the numbers for Merrill Lynch's very first mortgage-backed securities, their very last being somebody else's fault.|
After some years of shuffling papers bytes, he jumped at an offer to set up instant lotteries (scratch-offs) in Brazil, selling more than half a billion lottery tickets.
He has occasionally written for major Brazilian newspapers; for the press-criticism site Observatório de Imprensa; for Aviation International News, and as the "São Paulo Bureau" of the blog of Joe Sharkey.
He does sporadic human-rights work, specializing in press crimes and unpopular causes. He dislikes appearing on television.
He finds Brazil a more interesting place to live than New York, if not as well-paying.
