Introduction When I began working with an etching press in 1997 I became completely enamored of print, but particularly monotype print process and its infinite possibilities. The monotype print, (“single print“, “1/1“) although regarded as a form of printmaking yields only one strong impression and a weak second, (or “ghost”). Monotype’s spontaneous qualities encourage rules to be broken and boundaries to be crossed. It is a wonderfully versatile means of expression. All the art I make, print, oil on canvas, even my assemblage art, in some way employs or is informed by monotype printmaking.
