About me

Occupation PhD student
Location Khartoum, Sudan
Introduction I am a postdoc at Oxford, looking at broadband internet and economic development in Kenya and Rwanda. Before coming to Oxford, I did a PhD at the Centre of African Studies at the University of Edinburgh. My PhD was about graduate unemployment in Sudan and particularly, how the expansion of education and the liberlisation of the economy by the National Congress Party changed the nature of communication in the Sudanese labour market. Broadly speaking, I am interested in the political economy of communication in African economies, both in terms of technology and social networks.
