Introduction Son and grandson of clergy, childhood: Long Island, North Carolina mountains, and primarily Jacksonville Florda. Church music career began in jr.high school and continued through seminary: organist-choirmaster gigs in Jacksonville, Ocala and New York. Full-time organist-choirmaster St.John's Cathedral, Jacksonville '59-61. Graduate of Stetson Univ., The General Theological Seminary, NYC. Ordained in Episcopal Church 1967. retired 2000. Married Kay [Winson] in 1968 - 3 children and 4 grand-children. Parish ministries in Massachusetts, Western North Carolina, Long Island and Miami. Owned home in English Cotswolds for 20 yrs, during which assisted seasonally at Tewkesbury Abbey. Frequent conference leader and staff in liturgy and church music. Staff officer Lambeth Conference 1998. We sold homes in England and Miami in 2004, moved permanently to our present home, AsheWood on Mt.Jefferson-an historic Underground Railway stop.
Interests Travel [UK, Europe, southern Africa, USA] classical, jazz, and sacred music, British and world history, Anglicanism, Art, active supporter of gay rights, our family and grandchildren.
Favorite Music Anything baroque, English Church music incl. 20th century composers Vaughan-Wms, Britten, etc. Jazz especially George Shearing, my idol.
Favorite Books A Prayer for Owen Meany, Our Endangered Values, The Orthodox Corruption of Scriptures, In God's Name, [and a host of other theological and religious works too many to list.
