| Introduction | Unlike in other disciplines, it is very difficult to conduct controlled experiments in economics... "OK, so you seniors on the left will continue receiving your social security. The rest of you will have to find another way to survive. Hey buddy, don't give me that look. You signed the form." As a result, economists can only attempt to piece together what happened after the fact. Fortunately, we can use this information to build models and forecast the future. To this point, the success of our efforts is decidedly mixed. |
