| Introduction | I am a teacher. I am a writer. I am a mother. I am a lifelong learner. I struggle with finding time for myself. I struggle with trying to break the binding chains of perfectionism. I struggle with believing in myself and my abilities. But, not all the time. I became a single mother by choice at the age of 40. I planned and saved for my child. I make sacrifices because of my choice. I never knew how much I could truly love another person until my child entered my world. I dream of sharing stories that touch others. Stories that make others laugh. Stories that make others cry. Stories that make others think. I dream of finding my books in a bookstore. I dream of finding my books in the library. I dream of raising a strong child in an environment that fosters creativity, sharing, kindness, caring, acceptance, and the belief that we can make do with what we have. When I read, I read as a writer, a media specialist, a reader, a teacher and as a mom. I try not to read as all of these at once, but sometimes separation is challenging. |
