| Introduction | I always knew my path would be different from others I knew growing up in suburban New Jersey. I’m not sure what was really expected of me, but I doubt that it included the things I wound up doing! About the only thing that I did according to Hoyle was attend college for a B.A. in English. I know...I know. "What can you do with an English degree? Teach?" Aaghagh! I ran for the hills! Literally! Working in Colorado during the summers, my first husband & I had a blast working at a very cool guest ranch outside Rocky Mountain National Park. We bicycled in New Zealand for about 4-5 months - which led us (1984) to McMurdo Station in Antarctica. Although my first husband and I parted ways, I kept going to "the Ice" as it is fondly referred to. After a few Antarctic summers as a contract worker in McMurdo I “wintered over” – a 12-month period (1990-91) in the old bio lab - long since gone. After what seemed like forever, I embarked on the good ship Entrepreneur, met my wonderful husband, John, who shares my values and passion for just about everything. It's a good life! |
