About me

Gender Male
Occupation semi-retired,or,merely just tired
Introduction I am somewhat past middle age and have witnessed both the ethereal and bestial in Man. Once,I thought of myself as an 'artist',but am not; Occasionally, I did come close enough that I thought I could hear angels sing, and leapt for joy amid that celestial caccophony. My dog of twelve years has become easily half my life. My home is a refuge from the chaos and evil of the world. The 'Postern Of Fate' refers to that which lies in wait on the other side of the front door. I think that all I ever really wanted was good friends, good food, and kind conversation. With enough reliable money to live comfortably. I smoke cigarettes--and, when I can get them, decent cigars because, dammit, once in a great while, one will taste good; should 'second-hand smoke' aggrieve you,we can open all the doors and windows, and, crank the A/C. The 'Postern Of Fate' swings both ways.
Interests understandable art, music (especially from early to pre-WWII), literature, poetry, architechture, good food, victorian art, letters, etc., gardening, finding thing I never knew before, animals, the dictionary, silent--and, early 'talky'--films, personal liberation, pianos, my dog 'Daisy', few, good friends of seeming centuries; things that make me laugh, soft lights, good food, quiet music, great conversation without self-aggrandisement, humility in the face of true greatness, ego, in tnhe face of pure stupidity, comfortable furniture, some pipe organ music, water colors, pen-and-ink drawings, satisfaction at days'end, gathering peace towards life's end, peaceful and untroubled sleep, soft dreams, and a restorative lassitude upon awakening, knowledge, oceans, true wit and easy laughter, simple beauty, compound eyes, NDE's, things that make my heart sing and gladden the Soul, wooing the Muses...dancing with the Gods, the search for Bliss, my 'Grail' to behold the face of God.
Favorite Movies 'The Third Man';'The Ship Of Fools';'Flying Down To Rio';'Council For The Defense';'Intermezzo';'North By Northwest';'The Mummy';'Godzilla', in all its ridiculous incarnations; and, others; 'Nightmare Before Christmas'.
Favorite Music A litle bit of everything--except rap, which gives me hives. Many classical pieces, but not all; try the works of Scriabin.
Favorite Books 'The Pickwicke Papes';'A Christmas Carol";the dictionary;'Miss One Thousand Spring Blossums';The Palfry collection of Poetry;'The Oxford Concise Dictionary of Music', by Percy Scholles (?); anything that captures my 'hummingbird' imagination.

Sorry, but this Sphinx has tons of questions and riddles to pose; you want easy ? Follow your heart to Yahoo. In my blog,'The Postern Of Fate...' Responses and comments are welcome, but, as a caveat, should you be weird, I do not want my blog to become a rabid dog fight. Thanks in advance. Charles
