| Introduction | I am a 40 something dad of a daughter adopted from foster care. When you raise a child who is not your biological child, who has been through trauma and loss you have 2 choices, go crazy or learn to reach into the heart of a broken child and find a way to heal it. This changes you as a human being, I have learned more from my daughter about myself than from anything else. I see in her, the pain I see in the world, Millions of people struggle to find their place in it, try to make sense of history, both the world and their own, How do you teach a child to choose to be a survivor and not a victim? I am still working on that, but I think some of the things I have learned might help other people so I decided to write them here. |
