Introduction Eileen lives in Florida where she watches pelicans glide over the Gulf and sometimes sees alligators in the Everglades. In the summers she lives in a deep, green valley in historic Morris County, NJ where she grew up.She often spots wildlife when out gardening - today she caught a glimpse of deer and an orange fox slipping through the field and a heron down at the pond in the park. She has been writing all her life and now concentrates on picture books, non-fiction and poetry. CANYON (Mikaya Press) describes in poetic text how canyons are created. (Bank Street College - a Book of the Year; Nominee - Beehive Award (UTAH); Listed in VALERIE & WALTER'S BEST BOOKS FOR CHILDREN). Her G IS FOR THE GARDEN STATE (Sleeping Bear Press) tells the story of NJ from A to Z (NJ Center for the Book-Best Book of Year). Eileen hikes in western mountains and canyons and walks in the woods and beaches of the east. She has worked with children's groups in scouting, sports, tutoring and musuems. She serves as a volunteer in environmental and historical preservation. A graduate of Skidmore and NYU, a personal delight is capturing the sense of wonder of childhood, nature, and story for children.
