Introduction On television, Richard James played Officer Orrin in Gerry Anderson's Space Precinct, Sir Gestion in 20 episodes of CITV's Sir Gadabout; The Worst Knight in the Land and Mr K in 30 episodes of CBBC's Mysti Show. He has played roles in such programmes as MI High, My Parents Are Aliens, Crossroads, Eastenders, The Jury, Doctors, Drop The Dead Donkey and Life of Riley.

On film, Richard appeared as Geoffrey Weasel in Terry Jones's 1996 film The Wind in the Willows, as Kirsten Dunst's husband in A Lover's Prayer, opposite Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds in A Bunch of Amateurs and alongside Helena Bonham Carter in Great Expectations. Further appearances include The Wolf Man, Stormbreaker and a film version of Julius Caesar with Christopher Walken and Richard Harris.

He has played parts at the Derby Playhouse and Newcastle-Under-Lyme's New Victoria Theatre, as well as touring the UK in a stage version of Thunderbirds and appearing in his own play The Mystery of Sherlock Holmes at the Wycombe Swan. He is currently on a UK tour of Gangsta Granny, an adaptation of David Walliams' popular book.
