Introduction Dr. Ethelle Lord's experience in dementia care began in 2003 with her husband's diagnosis of Vascular Dementia and her providing for his care at home. By the summer of 2012, she found herself in Chicago delivering a keynote to an international audience of neurologists seeking first-hand information on family caregiving and Alzheimer’s. “Yes Virginia, You Can Have an Alzheimer’s Friendly Healthcare Experience” was just the beginning of a long journey to bring a uniform way of delivering dementia care to both professionals and families. She has authored the first Alzheimer’s primer, “How in the World... and Now What Do I Do?” (published in 2013) and has developed and shared a wealth of her experience and knowledge on the website Remembering4You (http://remembering4you.com). In 2014, Dr. Lord founded the ICA, the International Caregivers Association (http://icareassoc.com). She is currently completing her first book entitled “Alzheimer’s Coaching: Taking a Systems Approach to Creating an Alzheimer’s Friendly Healthcare Workforce” (expected to be published by Tate Publishing in 2015).
