| Introduction | I am a self-taught, self-representing artist from the outskirts of the Atchafalaya basin in South Louisiana. I live with my husband and daughter in a small, rural community where seeing an alligator is a regular occurrence - seeing a cab just doesn't happen. Inspiration is normally drawn from my life, music, and nature. There are unlimited sources of inspiration in the swamps and bayous which surround me. I am awed by the ever-changing balancing act of nature - every element seems to fit in perfect harmony with all others. I try to pull the same sense of balance into my paintings - not only in the composition of the painting, but in the painting as a whole and it's environment. I often envision a room the painting could live in and the harmony of the painting within the room. My paintings either start with a concept or a visual image depending upon the mood I'm in when starting the piece. Visual images are the kicker. A couple visual images flashing in my head would be manageable; the constant barrage of images flashing in my head has to come out. Painting is simply something that must be done to maintain my sanity. Thanks for visiting and for your support! |
