About me

Gender MALE
Introduction Have been birding since a schoolboy but by no means seriously. Bought my first binoculars when on honeymoon, didn’t last very long (binoculars not wife). Started getting seriously interested in birds when at a loose end working shifts. As I lived in Gt Barr the Sandwell Valley was on my doorstep and covered the area pretty thoroughly from 1980 through to 1998 when I left the area. Relocated to Coleshill then Shustoke three years later which seem to coincide with the Tame Valley’s decline from the heady days of the 70’s and 80’s. My first twitch was in 1983 (I think) for Olive-backed Pipit in Bracknell. I now twitch occasionally but prefer to save my brownie points for foreign trips. Shustoke Reservoir and Coleshill Gravel Pits are my local patches and so to summarise I specialise in Flogging Dead Horses! On the 17 July 2014 my wife Joy and I together with my brother and his wife completed the Munro’s in Scotland. One of my greatest achievements, not that I have had many! We are going to continue hill walking and will try and climb all of the Corbetts (2,500 to 3,000ft)
