Introduction | I'm an artsy, nerdy native Texan and aspiring art historian. I come from a family of artists and have always been interested in art--what a work of art meant to the artist who created it, and what we can learn from it today. I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in the History of Art at the University of Bristol. I am specializing in the art of Victorian Britain, although my interests definitely do not end with British art, or even in the nineteenth century. I love discovering "new" artists. I approach every painting as a mystery. In time, a familiarity with their work creates for me a window into the world in which an artist lived and who they were as a person. This blog is a compilation of musings about my daily encounters with art--what I am currently studying, or just a reflection on what I have learned in the past. I am also an avid traveler, mostly around Europe and the United States, and write about places that I have been and all of the cultural wonders that I have had the opportunity to experience in “the flesh.” |
