My blogs
| Introduction | Puppet2220.Twenty-two-twenty was the number on the house I grew up in. Upstairs, across the hall from my bedroom was my father's studio. Oil paint and turpentine, clay and India ink and wood carving tools filled the space and in the corner was a red leather wing chair from which he would read my bedtime stories. Children's' books illustrated with photos of doll like figures rather than paintings and drawings captured my attention the most. "The Lonely doll" by Dare Wright was my best loved book. A "doll" is a plaything. To pose and dress and brush it's hair. "draped figurative sculpture" is a better description. My work is created to illustrate a story. Be it a tried and true old time fairytale or a story yet unwritten, I hope the works I offer help to inspire a storytelling moment or two. These pieces range from sweet miniature settings for a little girl's room, to more adult themes of dark and moody conjuring. |
