Introduction I grew up in Ocean Beach, a small community in San Diego, California. I've always been an animal lover. I had lots of pets growing up. When I was a kid, I used to set up backyard zoos with my pets and stuffed animals, and charge the neighborhood kids admission. Little Lulu comic books were my favorite stories. On rainy days or when I was home sick, I'd get comfy under my blankets and read all of my Little Lulu comics. The Secret Garden was my favorite book. As a teenager, I didn't read much. I found the classics boring, but Edgar Allen Poe fascinated me. I've worked in costume shops, print shops, and even flea markets, but art and writing have always been my passion. My award winning poetry has appeared in several journals and anthologies. My first poetry chapbook, "from the earthen drum of my body", was published in January 2018. I recently retired as a Special Education Para-professional, having worked with Special Needs high school students for 20 years. Now my creative life includes spending more time traveling, writing, painting and exploring photography. I love glamping, yoga on the beach, and celebrating winter and summer solstice.
