Introduction In 2012 my mum was diagnosed with mixed dementia - Alzheimer's & Vascular Dementia. It’s a heart-wrenching journey but I have vowed to share it with her. I am constantly researching how best to cope with the disease and looking for different ways to stimulate my mum’s memory and keep her active and happy. My mum has always been a very creative person and she has passed on her love of arts & crafts to me. I graduated in 1984 with a degree in Art & Textile design but for many years life took me down a different path and my love of art only resurfaced when I discovered how invaluable it is for those with memory problems. Art Therapy is becoming well recognised for enhancing the quality of life for Dementia patients. I hope that what I have discovered through my research ... and through personal experience may help others in our situation, travel the bumpy road more smoothly. www.creative-carer.com
