Introduction I think about what to eat for dinner while eating breakfast. I love bringing people to the table, whether it's in my professional or personal life. I think some of the best conversations happen at a table over delicious food. As one dear friend likes to say, the time spent with friends at a dinner table doesn't age you. I really think he's on to something.

Lately I seem to spend most of my time in the kitchen. Aside from the act of cooking, I love the symbolic collaboration involved in cooking--I'm taking ideas and recipes from my family, friends, and other chefs, using ingredients from my garden, the farmers market, or my grocer, and transforming those raw materials into delicious food for me, my husband Galen, and our friends. The photo in my blog's title is a great example of such collaboration: Galen and I grew those tomatoes from plants we got from a friend; Galen took that genius photo; and we savored those tomatoes all summer. And the collaboration can continue because now you, my dear readers, can comment on this blog. This newfangled technology is just wonderful.
