About me

Industry Communications or Media
Occupation Freelance writer and editor
Location New Delhi/Calcutta, India
Introduction My mother says I was six months old when I went after my great-uncle's pen. I'm currently a recovering stationery addict.

She says I began to roll out chapati flatbreads long before I was knee high to the gas range. I'm still trying to do it just right.

My grandmother remembers me toddling after her to water the plants at 4am. These days, I sometimes forget, and my garden has been likened to a forest reserve.

My father says that at two, I chose a fat yellow plastic piggy bank over my fat yellow furry toy spaniel. Today, I'd prefer a fat live yellow Labrador to both. But I am still counting pennies and counting on the pig to pay my way.

My friends reach for me on speed-dial when they encounter UFOEs: Unidentified Fruit or Other Edibles. I ask them to send some over.

My uncle taught me to work only as hard as I needed to in order to afford the leisure I want. I'm still trying hard to swim against the tide of consumption. I am afraid of drowning.

You're going to the moon! What did you forget to pack?

Ah, woe is me... the cheese-knife and pickles!
