Introduction Sumitha Carvery is the founder and President of Carvery Law Firm. Sumitha provides innovative and practical solutions to clients on all aspects of employment law. Her practice focuses on pre-employment negotiations, employment contracts and compensation, workplace policies and procedures, problems arising during the employment relationship including workplace harassment, workplace investigations, employee discipline, termination of employment, human rights and wrongful dismissal litigation. Sumitha has represented corporate clients with employment law matters before the Federal Court, Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. Sumitha also advises on compliance with applicable provincial employment legislation including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Employment Standards legislation in all Canadian jurisdictions and Canada Labour Code matters. Prior to joining the firm, Sumitha practiced employment law for several years at a top-tier international law firm. Sumitha has also written many employment law articles, the most recent of which was published, nationally, in the Annual Review of Civil Litigation.
