| Introduction | Born in Harrisburg,Pa.I am the daughter of the inspired pianist and writer/painter, Andre and Lydia Sterste. I know who I am, what I enjoy, where my passions lay, when I need art to make my heart sing and how to do this. I attended The Harrisburg Academy and The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pa. These schools maintained strong art programs when I studied there. I earned top honors in the Arts, I attended the Boston University School For the Arts studying classical fine arts. I graduated from Lesley College, Cambridge Mass. with a B.S. in Art and Elementary Education. I hold dual Pa. certificates in Art K-12 and Elementary Ed. K-8. I studied at the National Academy of Design in N.Y.C. and art associations. In Clarks Summit Pa., I raised 3 children, while participating with Artists for Art, Scranton, Pa. and was juried into the Waverly Community Center shows and galleries. I participated in craft shows and created commission pieces. I studied at Peter's Valley Craft Center and later taught in the Pa. Governor's school for the arts at Keystone College and in several public and private schools. I spend most of my time these days, happily in my studio. |
| Interests | Plein Air Painting, Contemporary Majolica, Digital Photography - too many other creative endeavors to mention! |
| Favorite movies | I do not watch TV but from time to time I do enjoy a funny, touching, heart-felt, comic, dramatic, foreign or thrilling movie. I won't list titles because I refuse to be categorized based on what movies I like. |
| Favorite music | Classical. Classic Rock. Alternative. Reggae. Blue Grass. Now the Satellite Radio in my car calls them Bridge, Vinyl, Coffeehouse, Spectrum etc......I will try anything...and switch the channel promptly if I don't like what I hear. |
| Favorite books | Large, colorful, thick plated, coffee table art books about any artist.....from the Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc Cave artists to the most famous painters, including Van Gogh, Picasso, Georgia O'Keefe and Monet, as some of my favorites....and THOUSANDS in between and more current. No fancy name dropping here, I LOVE to look at picture books! Books about the weather, the bodies of water on the earth and nature books. If I read, I enjoy uplifting inspirational writers, hundreds of cookbooks, how-to books and classic children's literature. |
