Introduction Welcome to the National Sports Center for the Disabled Competition Program. 2008/2009 will mark 25 years of training here in Winter Park, offering the highest quality competition program available to athletes with physical disabilities. The Competition Program consists of the NSCD Alpine Ski Team and is also home to several US Ski Team members and foreign elite athletes. NSCD has focused on providing the highest quality ski race training available and with this quality has been able to witness dozens of racers being named to the U.S. Disabled Ski Team. But this training is not just for experts, the program operates on both developmental and elite levels so individuals of all abilities can take part in competitive events. The Competition Program involves on-snow training, gate training, and dry-land cross-training that includes biking, aerobics and weight lifting. NSCD staff assesses and coaches athletes with visual impairments, amputations, paraplegia, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, post polio and congenital disabilities. We provide a dedicated coaching staff that works with all our athletes to excel throughout the season.
