About me

Location Portland, Oregon
Introduction Currently, I am fulfilling the duties of Mom. Before this role I used to write and read poetry at the Poetry Slams at the Green Mill in Chicago and other cafes in the city. I am trying to find my way back to that, trying to incorporate this journey that I am on with my love of words and poetry. I have two great boys, an equally great husband and a fairly lazy, unenthused cat. Add to that, I have lots of good, creative friends (one that manages to get me to go to the Shakespeare fest in Ashland,OR every year!!) and wonderful parents and siblings. I am trying to learn to live in the moment, to jump in without too much analyzing and thought. This is new to me as I have always been considered a "worry wart". Wish me luck.
Interests Writing/reading poetry, prose and creative non-fiction. Seeing plays. Spending time with family -- seeing new places and meeting new people.
Favorite Movies Current Movie: Greenberg. Really uncomfortably good. Snow Angles (Sam Rockwell & Kate Beckinsdale -- rent it.) Old Movie: The 1944 version of Jane Eyre with Orson Welles.
Favorite Music A fan of Jesse Harris, The Script, Steve Means, Jason Mraz, Josh Joplin Group, Pink, Storm Large, Josh Kelley, Stephen Kellog, Matt Hires, Shawn Colvin. Still love The Smiths, Pyschedelic Furs and The Cure.
Favorite Books The Catcher in the Rye is one of my all time favorites. I re-read Madame Bovary and liked it more on my second reading. Think I might have to re-read Anna Karenna too. Also, 7 Poets 4 Days 1 Book great collection of poetry by a group of poets out of University of Iowa. I will always enjoy Ann Sexton's poetry -- timeless. Also add to that Diane Wakoski.
