About me

Occupation Medical writer
Location Portland, OR, United States
Introduction “Brother Greg” is a name I use partly to poke fun at my religious past—and partly to identify with anyone who has grown up feeling, since childhood, tortured by their religion. I had a spiritual experience while in high school. As one result, I majored in Religious Studies at Yale University and then earned a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. Finally, a few weeks before taking final steps toward becoming ordained as a minister, I realized I wasn't a Christian any more. I stepped away, and it was liberating. Life changed. Since then, however, I’ve found that it’s not so easy to completely let go of something that deeply affected me for many years; it still haunts me in odd ways.
