Introduction	I am a scientist in human immunology and infectious diseases and have a DPhil (Oxford term for PhD) degree from Oxford University, UK. I explore the mechanisms by which the human body employs to notice the presence and respond to an ongoing pathological process (e.g. a virus infection, a cancerous cell, an autoimmune disease). In turn, the immune system is can either protect us or become overwhelmingly active. How it influences our health is a thrilling and exciting field of investigation.
