| Introduction | Hello! My name is Shannon and I am currently an Assistant Professor of English Education at Shippensburg University. I earned my doctorate in English Education at Western Michigan University, and I taught High School English for 7 years in several suburban, rural, and alternative schools. I'm interested in Social Justice issues in the classroom and learning to tell the stories that matter to real teachers. I am also investigating the usefulness of New Media and 21st-Century literacies, such as comics, manga and graphic novels, young adult literature, slam poetry, and video role-playing games in the secondary classroom. Outside of my studies, I enjoy baking, crocheting, art, online gaming, downhill skiing, classical music, literature, fantasy novels, traveling, Star Wars, the Final Fantasy series, and teaching.
