Introduction One of the world's leading academic experts on media economics and management and government communications policies, Picard is Director of Research at the Reuters Institute, Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford. He also holds faculty positions at the Media Management and Transformation Centre, Jönköping International Business School, Sweden, the Institute of Media and Entertainment, IESE Business School in New York, the University of Tampere in Finland, and the School of Film and the Center for Media Management and Economics at Tsinghua University, China. He is the author and editor of 25 books. Picard is editor of the Journal of Media Business Studies and was editor of The Journal of Media Economics for more than a decade. He has been a consultant for media companies and government agencies in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia and regularly makes presentations to media trade organizations and academic organizations worldwide.
