Introduction I have enjoyed traveling the world since my first trip to Mexico with my high school Spanish class! However, my dreams were put on hold until I began working as a librarian in El Paso, Texas about 12 years ago--which led me to make library presentations in Mexico. And, serving as President of the American Library Association from 2004-2005 led to travels in many other countries, including Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Argentina, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Angola and China! I have found that being a traveling librarian gives me the opportunity to share my passion for books, literacy and libraries all around the world. I have worked for the past 30 years in public libraries, and most recently as Director of the El Paso (TX) Public Library. I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve the people of my community, but now it is time to move on! I recently became an Information Resource Officer with the U.S. State Department, a position which gives me the opportunity to travel and promote libraries and information worldwide.
