Introduction | Barbara was born and raised in an Italian-Jewish neighborhood in the Bronx. She earned degrees in Speech and Language Pathology and minored in Education and courses in Vocal Music and Conducting from Hunter College of the City University of New York. She earned a Master’s degree in Special Education (Learning Disabilities) from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After completing graduate studies at University of Wisconsin-Madison, she earned the coveted Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Assn. (ASHA) in 1969. Her previous publications include “Carry-over: an Approach that Works,” an article that appeared in the professional journal Advance for Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists, Vol. 17 No. 38 (Sept. 17, 2007), pp 12 & amp; 50. Currently she is writing Books 3 and 4 in her Santa Wars series of graphic novels for children and their parents: She’s written over 20 songs to advance the Santa Wars plot. Many of her original lyrics are parodies of Christmas carols, 17c-18c Italian art songs and operatic arias. |
