About me

Occupation Monastic Contemplative Community
Location Drogheda, Ireland
Introduction Founded by St Dominic in 1206, Dominican Nuns form an integral part of his Order of Preachers and are associated with the 'holy preaching' by a hidden life of prayer and sacrifice. The simplicity of our life points to the reality and mystery of God - not by doing by by being. Silence and enclosure help to create an atmosphere which is conducive to hearing and freely responding to the Word of God in all the circumstances of daily life. Our whole life is harmoniously ordered to the continual remembrance of God. Abiding with God in love we adore, praise and thank Him while bearing in our hearts the hopes and fears, the joy and pain of all people. The daily celebration of the Eucharist is the heart of our entire life; the sung liturgy of the Hours brings the community together several times daily while sisters take their turn at Eucharistic Adoration throughout the day.
