Introduction Cecil Kop Nature Reserve is easily reached from Mutare, the capital of the Zimbabwe Eastern Highlands. Cecil Kop is just two kilometers from the city centre. Open for day visitors from 7a.m. to 6p.m. This 1500 hectare wildlife reserve consists of three distinct areas. Tiger’s Kloof, the forested north eastern mountain face with numerous springs rolling down to the dam and surrounding msasa woodland, and Thomson's Vlei with its undulating grasslands and the Wilderness Area of heavily wooded forest, gullies and springs. It is home to three elephants, three white rhinos, the most famous of which is Daisy, three giraffes, zebra, ostrich, a wide range of antelopes, vervet and samango monkeys, baboons, and with an occasional sighting of leopard Cecil Kop Nature Reserve is an ideal and popular environment for visitors and for family outings with a refreshment kiosk, picnic sites and braai (barbecue) facilities. Cecil Kop is managed and developed by the WEZ Manicaland Branch.
