Introduction Matthew Champagne, Ph.D. is Director of Research at Embedded Assessments and has served as Senior Research Fellow, university professor, evaluator, consultant, and entrepreneur. Dr. Champagne founded the IDEA Lab, the first laboratory dedicated to the assessment of web-based learning, and his research and practice in developing and evaluating large-scale online learning programs has influenced assessment practices in higher education and industry since the mid-1990s. He has advised and helped implement online course evaluation systems at 370 colleges and learning organizations and is the author of 50 articles and how-to guides on effectively using student feedback and embedded assessment technology to improve teaching and learning. Matt earned his doctorate and masters degrees in Psychology from Purdue University.
