Introduction I was born in Haiti, but had to leave when I was 9 due to the "Papa Doc" terror. My parents, my younger brother and I went to live in Sudan, courtesy of the UN (my father was employed as a geologist in an FAO project for the irrigation of the Jebel Marra desert) I spent two years in a tiny village called Zalingei,(1962-1963), in the Darfur region, way before this became another region of terror. Those were the freest years of my childhood. I then went to school in France for two years. In 1966 my family emigrated to the U.S. to seek specialized health care for my dad who had developed an undiagnosable tropical illness... Difficult years for all of us, but we ended up staying... I went to Newtown High School (TOTAL CULTURE SHOCK!), and first Hunter College, then Swarthmore, before going to Howard Medical School - I became a Rheumatologist, got married and have two wonderful children, Tatiana and Maurice Remy. In 2000, I developed back problems which necessitated surgery, and since then I have not been able to work as a Physician... I am thus trying to reinvent myself ONE MORE TIME... What shall I be when I grow up?
