| Introduction | Born in Izmir in 1981, Ms. Kalay graduated with her first degree from Izmir Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Turkish Traditional Arts (Traditional Turkish Ceramics and Restoration of Ceramics), in 2006. Later she received her MFA from the Department of Ceramic and Glass after completing her thesis titled “Printing Techniques which Can Be Used on Ceramic Surfaces” in 2009. She studied as a post graduate Erasmus student in the Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania in 2008 during that winter semester. Ms. Kalay completed her PhD at Hacettepe University in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics in Ankara. She received her PhD after completing her thesis, titled “Minimalist Instillations in Ceramic Art” in 2013 March. During her studies, she attended national and international exhibitions, biennales, workshops and symposiums in different countries. During her PhD education, Ms. Kalay was also a lecturer at Ordu University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramic and Glass, in Ordu, 2010-13. Now she is working as an Assistant Professor at Kyung Hee University, College of Art & Design, Department of Ceramics, in Korea. |
