| Introduction | I like walking.
This is fortunate, because I do a lot of it. Some by choice and some because, not owning a car, I'm at the mercy of public transport. It's pretty good here in London, but even so, when your job involves a lot of community visiting, that equates to a lot of walking. One day I decided to sit down and work out roughly how far I walk in the course of my daily life and my estimate put me at about 500 miles a year. The Proclaimers' song '1000 miles' instantly popped into my head (and yes, I know that's not its actually title) and so I thought, why not double it? And that was that. |
