Introduction	My journey in life started on the pillion seat of my vappa's Chetak. I always wondered how he kick- started the scooter so effortlessly. I always wondered why he slowed down his scooter everytime we passed the 'kurushadi' and the 'maadan' temple near our home. When I held him tight, with my arms circled around him, the smell of his shaving lotion evoked a sense of security and pride in me. And everytime the traffic police at the signal saluted him, I felt like a prince. As years passed by, I wanted him to have the same feelings when he sat behind me on my Honda. I never asked him about it or perhaps, he never felt that way. I will never know. So, this is not ‘about me’, it’s about whom I am. I am Tariq Badarudeen, s/o M. Badarudeen.
