Introduction I never really paid attention to political and cultural issues growing up, but then what kid does? Adolescence is a time for self-absorption and personal pursuit, not wrangling with the geo-political issues of the day. My biggest concern as a 13 year old was where my next hotdog was coming from. Even as a teenager taking a Current Affairs class in high-school, I never really paid attention to what we were studying.(I can still, however, name most of the Carter cabinet because Mrs. Speers made us memorize it) I would blame my hometown's wretched public school system but I can't...my school was private college-prep. I don't want my kid(age12) to reach 25, suddenly start paying attention and say, like I did at 25, "Man I missed everything that happened in the world for the last quarter century." That is in part why I started writing this blog. To stay aware of the world, to keep thinking critically about what's happening around me, and hopefully inspire others to as well...enjoy.
