Introduction Christian Garbis is a writer of fiction, political and social commentary, and journalism. He has been based in Armenia since 2004.

His first novel, tentatively titled "A World Without Wings," awaits representation.

Christian is the author of two acclaimed blogs, Notes From Hairenik and Footprints Armenia, sponsored by Hetq Online. He discusses issues related to poverty, environmental damage, politics, corruption and social injustices along with intricate descriptions of daily life.

He served as assistant editor at the Armenian Weekly and writes both opinion and journalistic articles as the paper's Armenia-based correspondent. In 1994 his short story "The Man Who Couldn't Sleep" was printed in Spectrum, published by the University of Massachusetts.

As an experimental filmmaker he has made six short films, one of which, called "Carriage of Dreams," debuted at the AFFMA Film Festival in 2000. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in English literature and was the first recipient of the university's awarded Certificate of Film Studies.

Christian lives in Yerevan with his wife and son.
