Introduction The project ‘Brokenland’ is an attempt to bridge civic authority and community needs, questioning our association to the land. It is an environmental project that involves communal participation in crafting narratives regarding the history of space. The long-term aim is to foster a community collective in designing and maintaining sustainable ‘green area’ of Castletroy View. Deirdre Power graduated from Limerick School of Art & Design in 1985 with an NDAD in Painting and continued studies in Painting & Photography at State University of New York in 1994. Graduated First Class Honours 2011, Masters in Art and Design, Social Practice and the Creative Environment, MA SPACE at LSAD. Has exhibited widely and is represented by the Phatory Gallery in New York. Exhibitions include EVA, Kilkenny Arts Festival, RHA, The Phatory, New York and Triskel Art Centre, National Self Portrait Collection. Received numerous awards and residencies including Mac Dowell Colony Residency in New Hampshire, USA.
