Once we were backpacking up in the Sierras, and we got kind of a late start setting out because it was raining and we waited for a little storm to clear up. Anyway we set out and about a mile or so up the trail, we saw some ominous black dots. And dust rising around them. So I pulled out my field glasses and examined the black dots, and they appeared to be bears. But there were several of them - I spotted seven or eight in one field. Too many to be bears. We got a little closer - other backpackers were coming down the trail to watch at this point - and turns out all that time it it was COWS. Free-range cows, and they were battling just like deer or buffalo, ramming each other in the head. We got around them and got to our campsite and all night long we heard THE UNFORGETTABLE SOUND OF COWS MAKING LOVE. Dear God.
