| Introduction | I first heard of Emily Weddall from a friend of the family back in 1999. This old lady was a friend of hers when she lived on Achill back in the 1940's. While visiting the old lady in a nursing home and she told me the story of Emily Weddall. I remember being interested in this lady who died decades before I was born, and made a mental note to look her up. I also promised that I would put flowers on her grave in Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin at the next chance I got. Ten years passed and eventually in 2010 I fulfilled my promise and laid a bunch of daffodil on her grave. I took a photo to preserve the occasion and from that photo of a lonely unmarked grave with a meagre bunch of daffodils this branch of research began. It has been a long and interesting journey for me and helped me to fulfill a second promise made to myself this time that I would help to put this great lady's name on the map.
