Introduction Mohamed Kheir Omer, an Eritrean-Norwegian, holds a doctorate in Veterinary Science from the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science. He grew up in western Eritrea and pursued higher education at the Universities of Addis Ababa and Khartoum. He has published numerous scientific articles in international journals within his field. Additionally, he has contributed political articles on the Horn of Africa and broader African issues to publications such as Foreign Policy, African Arguments, and Pan-African Review. From 1992-1996 Mohamed served as the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Asmara in Eritrea. He was as a central committee member of the General Union of Eritrean Students (GUES) affiliated with the Eritrean Liberation Front (ELF) from 1977 to 1979. In 2000, he was part of the influential "G 13," a group of Eritrean academicians who authored an open letter to the President of Eritrea advocating for democratic reforms. Mohamed is the author of "The Dynamics of an Unfinished African Dream: Eritrea: Ancient Times to 1968" (2020) and co-author of "Asmara: Pictorial Book 1890-1938" (2018) and "Eritrea: Nationhood and Sovereignty" (2022).
