| Introduction | I am a publisher and I have 3 children: one at nursery, one at primary and one at secondary school. I live in a village near Cambridge and before that in Manchester. I started off in Glasgow. I spent my first 20 working years in the health service and then gave it all up to join Salt Publishing to work with Chris and the wider Salt team to help turn it into something fantastic. When I'm not working or doing domestic stuff, I like taking photos and fiddling around with various projects and ideas. |
| Interests | Food - cooking, though preferably eating (I'm permanently trying to lose weight!), walking the dog keeps me sane, books (Just as well, really!). I'm also keen on taking photos and am trying hard to keep the auto setting on my camera switched off. Most of all though, I like spending time with my family, though this is easier said than done. |
| Favorite movies | I love films and go to the cinema every Saturday morning with my daughter so am well up on children's movies. Rent lots of DVDs and have wide-ranging taste. Can watch the same ones time and time again as I have a terrible memory and forget plots and endings very quickly. 21 Grams was fab. Calamity Jane. Fight Club. The Matrix (first one only - a classic). Grease, Kill Bill 1 & 2 - I want to come back as Uma Thurman in that film in the next life. |
| Favorite music | There's always music playing but I couldn't tell you what most of it is. Some I like, some I don't. I do know that I like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, some David Bowie, The Band, Velvet Underground, The Pixies, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Andy Stewart (after a few drinks), Johnny Cash, Arcade Fire & The Killers. |
| Favorite books | I love all of Salt Publishing's authors - we publish some of the most exciting poets and short story writers in the world (seriously, we do). I have wide-ranging taste -- if something's slightly off the wall, I'll read it (this is my personal reading taste, which doesn't necessarily reflect what I publish, I hasten to add -- 'off the wall' rarely sells well!). |
