Introduction I am a forestry scientist studying the genes that influence growth, wood properties and disease resistance of eucalypts. In our research we are developing DNA tests that are being used to accelerate breeding of better plantation trees. We hope this will lead to more productive plantation forests and reduce our reliance on native forests. I am also the author of Losing a Lost Tribe (Signature Books, 2004), which explores widely held Mormon beliefs regarding the origins of Native Americans in light of recent genetics research.
