| Introduction | Growing as much fruit and veges as we can in the space that we have is a pretty high priority for us! Concentrating on stuff that we obviously like to eat: lettuce, cucumber, garlic, carrots, spinach, basil, rocket, citrus fruits, potatoes.. well actually allot of things. Seasonal, of course, but most of all – easy to grow. Julie especially likes things that ‘value add’ to the foods/meals we eat most nights. We don’t use chemical sprays or artificial fertilisers - firstly because nature didn’t make them; secondly well hello, we are going to try and avoid those nasties in the food we eat! Living on the outskirts of Gympie, (Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia) our climate here is interesting, technically we are classified as temperate (according to the gurus) but we are actually sub-tropical. Summer days are around mid 30’s with high humidity, Winter ranges from sub-zero mornings to mid 20’s during the day. So we can often grow (if we try) a wide variety of goodies. |
