| Introduction | I've been in Spain since October of 2004. I live with our cats Eduardo and Harold in Culebrón but my partner Maggie now lives on the other side of the country in Ciudad Rodrigo. Maggie worked as a teacher in a school in Elche but she moved for another teaching job. I work for a local firm that sells, builds, renovates and furnishes houses. Hopefully Maggie will find work for me and I can then move too. We decided to move to Spain because we had always promised ourselves we would. Perhaps we would not have chosen this particular area but for Maggie finding work here before we moved from Huntingdon. Life here has its ups and downs. We are less well off than we have been for years and some of the things we'd taken for granted - like pensions and health care - we now see for their true worth. Life is normal and everyday. We sleep, cook and wash as before but despite that every day is actually full of surprises and new adventures even if they are on a very small scale. At times it's exhilarating, at times it's exasperating but it certainly ain't dull. At least I don't think it is and, hence, the blog full of the trivia of our lives. I hope you enjoy it. |
