Introduction | I was born in El Paso, Texas. I have two children, Paul, a high school graduate who will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall, and Rebecca, who will be a sophomore at Rockbridge High School in Lexington, Virginia. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. After graduation, I worked for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation while living in Austin, Texas. I then moved back to El Paso to attend the University of Texas at El Paso where I received a Master of Arts in Sociology. I then went to work for Gifford-Hill Cement Company as an Environmental Specialist. In 1985, I married and moved to the suburbs of Washington, D.C., where I worked as a volunteer to alleviate hunger in the nation's capitol. I opened my own glass studio and worked as a glass artist. I eventually moved to Berkeley Springs with my two children. In 1994, I received my teacher certification in science and have taught high school science for ten years. I am currently working on a second degree at Shepherd University in Education Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in science. |
